Focus on Intention

For some reason this story relates to my tai chi practice. A lesson I keep getting over and over from my teachers. Intention is everything. "use your intention", "where is your intention?" I have a very physical job, and my tai chi practice comes in handy with whatever I do. Both physically and mentally.
Today at work I was doing a repetitious task (over 200 times). I was threading cable through a pipe that had an obstacle at the end where the cable was to come out. The obstacle was the same for… Continue

Tai chi tip

Tai chi tip:
When Stepping in Taichi there is a "formula" that we pay attention to so we land in a correct stance. The formula is direction, distance, width and depth. First we determine the direction by rotating the empty hip to point the knee in the direction we want to move to. Next, while keeping that direction, the empty leg steps out naturally. The distance is determined by how low one sinks into the post leg (depth). Sink low and the result is a long stance, sink a little and it results i… Continue

pre-heaven and post-heaven jing, qi, shen relationship

Master Chen has taught: respect the mud enjoy the flower. Jing and qi are to shen like the water is for the fish. A healthy body is necessary to grow the spirit.

My partial understanding of these teachings:
If we do not take care of our bodies by eating poorly, lack of movement and exercise and by being extreme in our emotions, our minds are always busy and excessive sexual functions then that diminishes the quantity and quality of Yin (post heaven ) Jing and Qi. As the quality and quantity of… Continue

emotions

Since we are humans, we cannot remove emotions. Instead of having them control us and be our master, we can flip the coin and the emotions can be a tool to help us interact with our fellow humans. The feeling also can be indicator of what is happening around us. At that point the energy of the emotions becomes usable, a sort of recycling of the energy of the tool once it does its job. No need to hold onto them.
